5. How did you attract/address your audience?
Tension: We attracted our audience, by introducing tension in the first minute of the film. Within the first scene we create an aura of mystery over our antagonist, by only showing the mask. *Show scene with mask on phone* Once we actually see the criminal in the flesh we can only see his back, his face is never on show. We have done this to create suspense around our antagonist. Once we are actually seeing his face he has the mask on, telling the audience that this character that the police are after and are trying to stop him. *show clips of Jordan booting up* * Show clip with Jordan with mask on* We also created a cliff hanger - a trope used in many opening scenes of thriller films – at the very end a single shot is fired by our antagonist and then it cuts to the Title sequence with the raining money. This attracts the audience as they want to know what is being shot at and what becomes of the antagonist, we are drawing the audience into the story without them realising – they become invested into the film. *show clip of gunshot* Racial Diversity: Our film also attracts and addresses the audience through our use of different races in contemporary roles, very rarely seen in other crime focused films. This allows us to connect with the Black and Asian communities, as we are showing acceptance through putting minorities into roles of power - this is not to say that our production solely consists of minorities, we aimed to try and portray the equality in today’s society. This attracts the audience as it is something very rarely seen in films. *show clips of racial diversity* |
